Yarrawonga Health is the largest public sector residential aged care provider in Hume Region comprising of the three facilities – Allawah Special Care Hostel; Warrina Hostel and Karana.
These facilities offer the highest standard of care to residents as demonstrated by our continuous accreditation status. Our staff are highly qualified and competent, including our activities team who offer residents independence along with the inclusion in social activities.
All facilities are modern and provide the homeliness appropriate to the care needs of our residents. We provide excellent support to family members and the facilities are centrally located within the Yarrawonga township – one block from the main street shopping, banks and pharmacies. There are large common areas for residents and the facilities are co-located on the Hospital site, thus easier accessibility for doctors and allied health professionals. All rooms are subject to availability and couples' rooms can be accommodated.
To be placed onto the waiting list or be admitted to any of the facilities, residents must have a current Aged Care Assessment. We also recommend that prospective residents and/or their families seek independent financial advice.
Yarrawonga Health encourages participation of residents and relatives in the decision making processes regarding the facilities. Resident/Relative Meetings are held bi-monthly in each facility. Residents’ rights issues are discussed as required during these meetings.
Meals are prepared in the Yarrawonga Health Catering Department and overseen by an Executive Chef and Dietitian. On admission and as required, dietary requirements are assessed and individual likes and dislikes are documented. A Dietitian is available to assess individualised needs and special diets. Input and feedback regarding meals is encouraged at the Resident/Relative Meetings.
From 1st July 2014, the Aged Care Reforms come into place where all aged care facilities must provide their room pricing on the My Aged Care website.
Residents can choose to pay for their accommodation by a refundable accommodation deposit (RAD), a daily accommodation payment (DAP), or a combination of both. A RAD is paid as a lump sum amount. A DAP accrues daily and is paid periodically. A combination payment includes both a RAD and DAP. Residents have the option of having accounts direct debited monthly.
